Cheese Swage Pattern by Jock Dempsey:
10" diameter by 3" thick.
Laminated pine with turned aluminium core prints. Steel rapping plate with threaded pull out hole.
4 cored holes, 2 drilled holes.
9 hemispherical and 3 spoon depressions.
An artist blacksmiths' block similar to a round jeweler's dapping block but much larger.
This is a simple bench block design with well arranged features in symmetrical progression on the drag and randomly fitted shapes on the cope.
The name is taken from a "round of cheese" and was planned to be cast for the Wisconsin ABANA convention.
This pattern has never been cast (2006).
Collection of the maker, Jock Dempsey.
