Spoon and Bowl Swage Block:
This block was probably made and sold for silversmiths, coppersmiths or other non-ferrous metalworker and would have had highly polished work surfaces.
From a design standpoint there is a lot of wasted space on this block by using only one side.
The same impressions could be put onto a block with less than half mass.
Even more impressions could be applied if the edges were used.
However, for convenience you can't beat a single sided block.
Dimensions: 9" x 12.813" x 1.25 thick (229 x 325 x 32mm)
Bowl depressions measure: 4" dia. and 5/8" deep, 3" dia. and 5/16" deep, 2 7/8" dia. and 3/4" deep, 1 7/8" dia. and 5/8" deep, 1 1/8" dia. and 3/8" deep, 7/8" dia. and 1/4" deep.
The spoon depressions measure: 3 1/2" x 2 3/8" x 1/2", 2 7/8" x 1 7/8" x 3/8", 2 3/16" x 1 1/2" x 3/8", 2 1/16" x 1 1/4" x 5/16", 1 5/8" x 1" x 1/4". The total weight including the wooden holder is 33 lbs.
